Reinstalling mac os x through recovery mode is a tried and true troubleshooting approach for situations where the system software will not function as intended or won’t boot at all.. if all else fails, you can try restoring the mac with a backup made from time machine to a date prior to installing 10.13.4, assuming you made one anyway (one of the many reasons regular backups are so important!)..
Hi there just purchased a new macbook pro with touch bar. at the start the screen got stuck with a critical software update that asked to connect to wifi and could not completed. First off, confirm that the computer is connected to a wireless network, has an active internet connection, and has the correct date/time.. if that doesn't work, i would go with the nuclear option: boot to internet recovery (hold ✘✥r during boot).. 15" macbook pro touchbar 2016 radeon 460. i had this symptom happened almost every weekend. one pattern i found that it happens after i close the lid (sleep) without shut down..
